There are so many times that my daughter has to listen to me. You know the routine: Go get dressed, Take your vitamins, Put the dog outside, Play nice with your sister…and on and on and on.
The great thing is that at the end of the day my husband and I listen to our daughter’s very carefully. Years ago we set up a night routine that doesn’t get missed. The girls say the following: “Thank you God for……….”. Next they follow with: My Favorite Part of Today was………. and My Least Favorite Part of Today was……………… Lastly they finish the sentence “I am……….” by telling us something positive about themselves.
Last night my youngest, Johanna, said:
“Thank you God for a wonderful day, Amen.”
“My favorite part of today was playing with (neighbor kids).”
“My least favorite part of today was when Julianne got in trouble.”
Wow! What an awesome end to a great day. My daughter, who has been a fighter through her seizures, elevated lead/mercury levels and many doctors and tests has proclaimed she is healthy. Perhaps I need to listen to my daughter and accept that we have been extremely healthy for almost two years. Maybe it’s time I stop sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next disaster. Yes, now it is time that I feel down in my soul the same fighting words I have been sharing with her since she was three….You are healthy!
Johanna firmly stating she is healthy and knowing the journey we have taken as a family to get here is the reason that Mission: Clean Kids exists. We look forward to helping you and your child proclaim….WE ARE HEALTHY!
